The Piedmont Community Band has many opportunities available to you and fellow band musicians.

As a performance oriented organization, the goal of the Piedmont Community Band is to provide musicians in the Piedmont region of North Carolina the opportunity to participate in an active, performing concert band for their personal pleasure and musical enhancement, as well as to contribute positively to the musical environment of the community by providing artistic entertainment and cultural enrichment.

If you are interested in joining the Piedmont Community Band, please fill out the contact form at the bottom of the contact us page.

Who Can Join?

Membership in the Piedmont Community Band is open to adult members of the local community. Potential members should have previous experience in a high school or college band organization.

Inquiries concerning participation can be made through the website or by contacting the director, Chris White. Membership is based on available openings in the Piedmont Community Band. Director permission is required for student participation.

What are the Requirements?

All band members must be able to read music, attend rehearsals, and be able to play one of the following instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, horn, trombone, baritone/euphonium, tuba, percussion or timpani.

When and Where are Rehearsals?

Rehearsals are held weekly on Monday evenings from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM. Our rehearsal location is the Hickory Ridge High School Band Room in Harrisburg, NC.

What Does it Cost?

Membership dues are currently at $25 per member, per semester. These dues help cover the cost of rehearsal space, custodial time, music, and basic supplies. Student discount for dues is available.

What Do I Wear?

For our formal concerts, men wear tuxedos or black suits with white shirts and black bow tie. Women wear all black. At our informal concerts band members wear a distinctive band shirt available for purchase. Rehearsal attire is comfortable, casual clothing.

What Happens if the Weather is Bad for Rehearsals or Concerts?

Rehearsals and concerts may be cancelled in the event of severe weather, poor road conditions, or other circumstances. The Director and President are responsible for making the decision to either cancel or move a rehearsal. Efforts will be made to notify band members by email, phone, website or through our social media. Local news stations WBTV Channel 3 and WSOC-TV Channel 9 will also be notified.
